Solved How to unearth Sony SLR Camera GPS details from an image

November 25, 2015 at 14:34:24
Specs: Mac OSX 1.7.5 Lion
I own a SONY SLTA65V and need latitude and longitude details for a non- photographic purpose. I switched on the GPS in the camera, took an image. So what comes next? I have Photoshop CS5.1 and its associated Adobe Bridge, but the metadata headings do not seem to include any reference to GPS when the image is loaded into Bridge.

As it says, the GPS data in Sony camera is compatible only with Sony PlayMemories Home or Action Cam Movie Creator, it says nothing about Adobe Photoshop.

Thanks for that. I will follow this up. I am puzzled a bit by your opening words "As it says…" Where would that be? It's not in the manual that came with my camera. I am grateful, though. I will take time to experiment and report back in due course.

Pretty much a defacto standard for viewing images is IrfanView, which will show exif data when the metaview plugins are installed:
