What is the source? DVD? downloaded?

Commercial DVD's are usually copy protected.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

Thank you for your response, however, I have decided to sell my Samsung camcorder on E-Bay and get one of the Flip camcorders. There does not appear to be a way to download a videotaped program directly from the camera, nor from the mini-disk. Fortunately, I made only one recording, so I haven't lost a tremendously valuable recording.

Enjoy your summer!

Are there any connections on it? There must be a way to connect a cable from it to a pc.

Or is the disk removeable.

What is the model?

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

I'm assuming you can see the VOB files (on the DVD) on the PC.

Just copy the VOB files to your hard drive, then change the file extension to MPEG. You should be able to find a free video joiner for MPEG files (to get all those VOB's into one video file).

VOB files are actually encoded MPEG2, so changing the extension is all you really need do.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
