coolpix l610 keeps stating battery exhausted, new batteries

Specs: Windows Vista
camera keeps stating that the batteries are exhausted and shuts down, i have tried new batteries but it keeps stating the same

Please help

I suppose you've inserted the two AA batteries correctly otherwise the camera wouldn't respond at all, but check anyway, you never know:

Looking at the battery compartment from above and with the compartment on the right-hand side, the battery on the left should have it's positive terminal uppermost, while the battery on the right should have it's negative terminal uppermost.

If you're using rechargable batteries maybe the charger is bad. If so, try regular alkaline batteries that you know have a full charge and see if they work.

... yes, and new regular Alkaline batteries give out a slightly higher voltage than charged up rechargeable batteries. If they don't do any better then the camera is faulty.
