I accidently downloaded an "anit virus" virus last night (AV8 virus) and had to run malwarebytes and ccleaner to get rid of it. however, when i removed things from ccleaner, i think i might've accidently removed something that allowed me to play online videos before...now i can't watch anything online, including my online yoga videos, youtube videos, facebook video posts, etc. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player and i have the latest version, but when i try to watch videos again, it still tells me to download the latest version of flash player. PLEASE HELP! online videos are my livelihood!!!!
Thank you guys so much!
yes, virus is clean and yes, i just reinstalled the latest version of flash, but it still won't play!
i also downloaded divX, i also have VLC, but i don't know how to use them to watch online videos. how do i switch over to these players?
leeingri, your proxy and automatically detect settings may have been compromised. Check > automatically detect settings
Uncheck > proxy
vista how to check proxy and automatically detect settings
so am i supposed to check or uncheck "automatically detect settings"?
well, i tried checking the option and then restarting my computer...still doesn't work...
Check > automatically detect settings Did you?
Uncheck > proxy
yes, i did both. didn't work.
your proxy being checked has nothing to do with this problem because obviously you are getting online. Response 3 is for if you CANNOT get online. Open IE and click on tools/internet options/advanced and reset internet explorer. Then close it out and open it again and see if you can view the vids, sounds like you have some corrupt addons installed.
Another solution
Try some different browsers:
firefox
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
google chrome
http://www.google.com/chrome/index....Chances are they will work for you...good luck

i'm gonna try the browser thing.
google chrome wouldn't install, so i gave up
but i installed firefox, and now i can watch youtube! THANK YOU!
so there's no way to fix IE8?
response #8 tells you how to reset IE....glad to hear firefox worked for you Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
Response 8 Response 3 is for if you CANNOT get online.
Absolute rubbish, do some more googling.
leeingri, more info on fixing IE8.
I've tried to reset and reinstall IE8 but both didn't work.
was there a reason as to why google chrome wouldn't install?
maybe that is the same reason my IE8 wouldn't play videos?
Something has gone corrupt in your operating system. If you have an install disc you can try sfc /scannow
