cant read a dvd-r in my dvd/cd writer

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a bunch of pics on a dvd-r disc{memorex 16x}I can see the shortcuts in explore int he E drive,but,says windows is searching for the specific file,Then asks to install the disc,then states shortcut has been moved,how can I read this disc,will not work on my dvd player either.My drive is a Lightscribe dvd super multi /cd writer running vista.Any suggestions?Thanks everyone!!!

Your post is a little unclear. Are you saying that you can explore the E drive and see the files? If so, have you tried to copy/paste one of the files to your hard drive, then opening it from there?

Did you burn the actual pics, or just shortcuts to the pics (which I assume are no longer on the hard drive)? If you right-click on one of these "shortcuts" and select "Properties", what are the size of these "shortcuts". Does the "Properties" applet have a "Shortcut" tab at the top? If so, you don't have any pics, just shortcut icons with invalid paths.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
