Myself, I use Rayovac Platinum. The "takes up to 16x more digital photos" version of these batteries. So far I haven't had any issues with these rechargeable batteries. They seem to be better than my previous ones Energizer's Rechargeable. The Rayovac's I can get quite a few pics when down to one bar left of energy. Energizer's at this point the camera would shut off. I have a Canon Powershots SX160 IS.

Unusual. Assuming you were not very unlucky with batteries then something is causing a very large current drain. There is no user fix for this so it's a case of getting it repaired or replaced. In the meantime it is possible that the batteries will hold up without using flash.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Are these regular alkaline AA batteries or Nimh rechargables? ( I see your camera can use either.) Of course don't recharge alkaline or the older carbon batteries, although I used to do that with the 9 volt battery in my 'transistor' radio. They'll hold a little bit of a recharge but not much.

Alkaline will always work longer than a fully charged rechargeable, starting at a higher voltage too. Downside is they have to be dumped when spent.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
