Audio problems on ELPH 520 HS

September 3, 2013 at 16:12:40
Specs: Windows 7
The volume (movie mode) on my ELPH HS 520 is almost inaudible no matter how much I attempt to increase it. Otherwise the camera performs just fine.

The manual provides no hint at troubleshooting this problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Make sure the volume is turned up higher when recording, otherwise you'll never get enough volume on playback.

Another thing to to check is to find out where the microphone is, then make sure your fingers are not covering it when recording.

This is happening during playback on the camera?

I believe that comes with an 8 gig micro SD card. Can you remove it and play the movies on your PC? (You may need to buy a card reader compatible with the camera card.) I think they're in .mov format so quicktime or VLC media player should work with them. If their audio is OK on your PC then there must be something wrong with the playback on the camera.

That camera does not come with a recording or volume control so unfortunately you're stuck with the recording level it provides.
