I am having problems with my webcam on Windows live messenger. when i try and send a request to view someones webcam it comes up as a video call instead. when i hover my mouse over the top it says start or stop a video call. when another friend sends a request to either view my webcam or for me to see theres it still comes up as a video call or a request doesnt come at all. when i click the little webcam icon i cant select if i want a video call or webcam i just get a video call how can i fix this to view other peoples webcams and for them to view mine but not as a video call.. please help
check webcam is connected correctly any software that comes with it should be installed
download latest version of MSN (live)
on msn contacts main screen there is options > webcam + audio setup. Go in there and run through it. make sure webcam is detected and working.
On my msn there is video call too but there is also webcam only. i havent used msn for a whiole but look around in window and it should be there
good luck
I tried all of that and it still hasnt worked. my webcam was detected when i tried the audio and webcam setup but still nothing has changed. i have also installed windows live messenger again after i uninstalled it from control panel. i have tried lots of different ideas and none of them have worked is there anything else you could suggest to help?
hmmm. If your 100% sure there is no other webcam option then only thing i can think of is download a previous version of MSN such as windows live messenger 8.5
or email msn technical support
I'm 99% sure this is a feature of the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger. They want to get away from just viewing webcams and encouraging video calling. So if you want the old options you'll have to download an older version of Messenger. They can be easily found on the net. :)
okay thank you very much
