Solved TV picture became snowy no adjustment would restore picture

Specs: Windows 7
Picture became snowy - when neither remote or TV was adjusted. Menu would not show on screen. Setup would not show. What's wrong?

Snowy screen usually means no aerial connected, no actual rf signal coming in...

But... Internal faults can produce similar results.

Also are you connecting a satellite or similar box - usually via hdmi or scart (the latter if in UK/Europe).

What make/model is the tv?

Have you also tried the remote with a new set of batteries.

The lack of menu display does tend to suggest an internal fault with the set though...?

If you're using a converter box it's possible there's a bad connection between the box and the tv but otherwise digital tv doesn't get snowy. A weak signal results in a pixelated, jumpy picture or no picture at all. So yeah, an internal problem with the tv seems likely.
