security alarm started beeping for no reason

Specs: Windows XP
I have an alarm system powered by 3 volt batteries. I'm testing the voltage and 2 read 3 volts, while the other 2 read around 2.8 - 2.9. Are these still good? thanx "D"

If you're just testing with a voltmeter and the batteries aren't loaded, then the readings you'll get aren't very usable. All batteries need testing under load to determine their charge level (the link describes car-battery testing, but the principles apply for virtually any battery):

The beeping may be a low battery warning. Some smoke detectors have similar system.
