Samsung blu ray netflix issue answer

Specs: Windows 7
Hi all! After 6 frustrating months of trying to fix my Netflix on my samsung blu ray, I finally got it to work. I was able to get the red screen with Netflix but then it would say error nw4-8. With little help from Samsung, I finally discovered I had to change the IP address (In the player. go to Menu>Setting>Network>>IP setting>DNS) and change it to 8 8 8 8. After I did that, I was then able to get to the login page on Netflix - a miracle as I have been wanting and needing to do that for 6 months- and got it working. I hope this helps other out there who have been having this issue as I was not able to find this answer anywhere!

Thanks for the information - as you say, it could well help others. Might be worth putting it in the "How To's" section of Computing Net if you have the time - see tab in top bar a bit to right of center.

Thanks for posting the solution. For the last few weeks I have been able to connect my Blu-ray player to the network, but not the internet. Just for the heck of it, I tried what worked for you, and it fixed the problem! This has been driving me crazy! Thank you so much!!

Just FYI, you didn't change the IP address, you changed the DNS server address to Google's address.

But thanks for posting the fix, this can be very useful as this issue has been brought up many times in the past.
