My MP3 player won't work, won't turn on

Specs: Windows XP
Before this , it wouldn't let me hear, but i fixed that problem by welding (i think that's how you spell it) the connections to the headphone jack back in place, then i listened to it for about 5 minutes, then it died and even if i charge it, it won't turn on... It cost me about $50.

It's actually called "soldering". Nevertheless, what brand/model of player is this? A lot of them are very cheaply made. Could be that the batteries (assuming NiMH) are bad.

How did you damage it enough for it to need soldering back in place? i would suspect whatever caused it to need repairing has also caused it's death.
