how to remove any instrument from a music cd

Specs: Windows XP
for example, if I have the song "light my fire" and I want to remove guitar, or organ, or voice or all musical instrument and leave only the drum or the guitar. May be with a kind of mixer or software or whatever. If somebody can answer my question please send it to

That can be done on the TV show CSI but I don't think it can be done in the real world. It would be good though.

You can do that for a midi file but not a wav file. It would be too difficult to segragate the particular wave forms. Perhaps if you had the original sound recording that was on 32 tracks then you could isolate the individual instruments but everything we receive is usually in two tracks/stereo, left and right all mixed together.

You could filter out a monotonic instrument, but it is impossible to separate a polytonic sound. That why you can't get a midi file from an orchestral performance.
