I want an easy, reliable way to record phone calls using my laptop's internal microphone. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1525. I'll describe the method I've found, and you can tell me if there's a better or cheaper way, or if I'm doing it wrong.
Software: Free version of TRx Phone Recorder (from nch.com.au). If it works, I'll buy it.
Hardware: They suggest a Direct Recording Adapter from AltoEdge. (Call Recording Adapter (VEC Direct Line) (LRX-37C); plus a standard double adapter.
Phone line: Analog, single line
Phone: Cordless (Panasonic DECT 6.0-Series Dual-Handset Cordless Phone)
The configuration of hardware and computer can be viewed here:
http://www.nch.com.au/hardware/setup/callrec/analog.html#1010Is there a better way to do this than the configuration described above? I really want to make this happen, and I'm sick of not being certain of what I'm doing.
Is there a better software?
Thanks,
Paul
There may be better software, but you might want to read this before undertaking such...
I know the law. It's the software/hardware solution I'm interested
in.
This is not something most of us do. About all that can be done is research the solution, ask some questions, and dive in. By the time you get it working to your satisfaction, you'll probably be the phone recording guru in your neck of the woods. Whatever gear you buy, insure you can return it for a refund if it doesn't work for you.

Hi Paul, I am not sure exactly what you want to do but I have recently discovered a service called www.recordall.com. You don't need any software and you can record from any computer or phone.
Your calls are then stored in an inbox type of interface so it is really easy to play back, tag, share or do what ever you want.
I hope this helpscheers
Seb
I use WM Sound Recorder to record my HTC Touch Pro phone conversation. It could also record outgoing and incoming calls automatically.
