My cd/dvd drive no longer writes. Still reads/plays. What is the best bet for replacement? Find compatible internal drive, or leave it and buy an external burner? Thanks.
Replacing an optical drive on a laptop varies from machine to machine. If it's in a bay to be accessed easily, then it should be easy to replace; but finding a suitable replacement drive may be quite difficult or expensive. If you have USB ports, then an external drive would likely be the best/least-costly solution. Computer Geeks, Egghead or some other on-line vendor should have one at a modest price...
