Never an easy answer.

You need to at least provide some scope of work, determine cost either by design analysis or competitive bidding from sources known to do this work or pay a third party to decide the typical costs.

Then you need to search for either individuals or companies to perform this work.

Be sure you have a good contract that covers any contingency to include but not limited to flaws in design, loss of data, loss of protected information, deployment dates and backdoor denial or agreement.

There are a number of companies that specialize in medical applications. You also may with to share your idea and let them sell it to others in a co-op sort of agreement.

From your brief statement we can't begin to direct you.

Hi Jefro,
Thank you for your response. Sorry for the limited question, I'm not exactly software literate. After searching the web for more of what I am looking for, it seems I need a software to interface with existing medical charting software. Where might I look for someone who is capable or interested in doing this type of work? I feel I need to locate a company or an individual to evaluate what I am trying to accomplish before I have any idea of the scope of the work or cost.

Have you tried odesk?

I have worked the medical field for most of my career and am currently working for a company specialized in medical software. You could contact me to see whether what you are trying to do would be in our scope. Having said that, if what you "just" want to interface with something existing without applying any change, you may not require specialized work.
