When I try to install Act I get a box that says "The program or feature "\??\D:\SETUP.EXE" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit version is available." I understand what it is saying. I am just wondering if there is a way around this. If not what version is available? Will I be able to upload into the version my data? Does ACT in the cloud take uploads?
You need to buy the 64-bit version of ACT if your Windows 7 is 64-bit.
Do you know what version that would be. For some reason I am having difficulty finding which one actually works. Also I need to know if the database is going to upload. message edited by Maroonsurfer
It appears that the application uses a 16 bit installer and this has no chance of running on a 64 bit OS. You best option is to go to the applications websitre and see if there is a 64 bit version. ACT.exe can refer to more than one application so I cannot be sure what it is.
I can't believe it but I figured it out!! Windows 7 professional was needed and is, in fact, what I have. I downloaded Windows Virtual PC and then downloaded Windows XP mode and then ACT! into XP and then I restored my info and baboom!!! It worked! I also had to connect my printer to XP. Fabulous!
