Specs: Windows XP
Ok I have a Compaq Presario 6435cl. It is a desktop by the way. It has 1GB memory and a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8GHz, 256K Cache, 266MT's. I want to upgrade the CPU and I found a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 1.9GHz, 512K Cache, 333MT's. Will this CPU work with my computer? I'm not sure if the FSB speed is too fast for the motherboard or if is even possible for the FSB speed to be too fast. Any help would be appreciated.

Your system only supports up to 266MHz FSB. If the 2600+ worked at all, it would only run at 1.53GHz.

There is a 266MHz FSB AXP 2600+ (AXDA2600DKV3C) that runs at 2.13GHz or a 2400+ (AXDA2400DKV3C) that runs at 2.0GHz.
