Which processor is the best for gaming?

I am buying a refurbished HP computer. I will be using this computer for games like Batman Arkham City and Mass Effect 3 so I need the most bang for the buck. The computers I am looking at are:

HP p7-1148p
AMD A6-3600 Processor
Motherboard AAHD3-HB

HP P6777C
Phenom II X4 830 Processor
Motherboard H-RS880-uATX

Both have 8 GB Ram and I am going to use a 550w ps, Radeon HD 6850 and 23" monitor for graphics.

I have read thru a lot of this forum and I know you guys would not pick an A6 3600 as your first choice but according to the A6 3600 is more powerful than the Phenom 830. Also would anybody recommend an Athlon II X4 645 over either of the above choices? I guess I am looking for the best AMD quad core but I only have around $450 to spend on the tower alone.

Since you'll be using a graphics card, there's no need to even consider the A6. In terms of raw CPU performance, the Phenom 830 is easily faster.

The Phenom has 6MB of L3 cache, making it a better choice for gaming than the Athlon 645.

The phenom is faster but not for big difference. I will choose the phenom because it is not hard to overclock like the A6.
