Hello All,
I'm buying a new laptop configured with the Core i7-4700MQ CPU. I have the additional options of the i7-4702MQ (+$50), i7-4800MQ (+$160) or the i7-4900MQ (+$330). The 4900MQ is not a financial option for me. It's just too expensive right now. In your opinion, would opting for the 4702 or 4800 be worth the cost? Would there be any noticeable improvement in the daily use or reliability of this machine? It'll be used primarily for browsing, video calls and multimedia. Possible some gaming.

The machine is an HP Envy TouchSmart 17T-j000 Quad Edition. Windows 8 64bit (eventually opting for W8 Pro 64bit), Core i7 4700MQ, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 24GB mSATA/mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache, 17.3" Full HD 1080p LED Backlit Touch Screen, Two 1TB 5400rpm HDDs, Nvidia GeForce GT-740M with 2GB dedicated video memory, Blu-Ray Writer and SuperMulti DVD Burner, 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth, Back-lit Keyboard.

Your opinions and advice are appreciated.

Based on your intended usage, I wouldn't opt for the CPU upgrade. In fact, you might wanna consider a cheaper laptop without all the bells & whistles.

Thanks riider. I was thinking the same thing on the cpu but didn't want to make assumptions as I'm apt to do. As for buying a cheaper laptop, I found a sweet and good looking HP SpectreXT TouchSmart 15-4011nr for 450 less than the HP site's "starts at" price and 700 less than the laptop I'm looking at. I almost pulled the trigger on that one but I like the bells and whistles on the Envy better.

Thanks riider,
