"What Ram Do I Need To Run A Intel Pentuim D 920"

The RAM type or RAM amount you can use has nothing to do with the CPU model.

For Windows XP 32-bit you can install up to 4GB but only around 3.2GB will be available to Windows.

for Windows XP 64-bit you can install as much as your PC can take.

Go to and use their scanner to determine the right memory and amount to purchase. Write down the information if you want to purchase elsewhere. Your max for 32bit Windows XP (more than 99% or XP are 32bit) as Phil says will probably be your limit, but if your system came with slow memory, faster memory will certainly help as well as purchasing a matched pair of memory rather than separate sticks. Note that optimizing your memory will help, but only just so much.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

The D920 Presler is based on the old netburst architecture so ideally you should have RAM that runs one step faster that the CPU frequency. That means that since your CPU runs at 800MHz FSB (200MHz frequency), the optimal RAM frequency is 266MHz (DDR533). Unfortunately your board only supports up to 2GB (2 x 1GB) of DDR400.
