I have tried to get more out of this computer. I have added one 1gb stick to replace one of my 512 mb sticks.when i tried to put both in in would not boot up just a solid red light. so i pulled one out and kept one 512 plus just one new 1 gb stick. it works and device manager says that it now has 1.5 gb of ram. is it not possible to put a full 2 gb into this old girl?? (sempron 2600 1.6ghz.)
The CPU has nothing to do with the RAM amount. The motherboard/chipset dictates how much RAM is supported. But since you didn't bother to list the make/model of your board or any other specs.....................
