Want to upgrade my PC

Specs: Windows 7
Hello, i have MS-7236 Chipset: Intel i945PL and i would like to upgrade my CPU now currently i have Pentium 4 and i would like to upgrade my CPU to atleast Core 2 Duo or Quad Core but i don't know if my motherboard can support them i would be really appreciated to get help thanks :)

MSI made several different boards with the number MS-7236. You need to figure out which one you have, then look at the CPU support list:

I figured it out my one is Neo3 And if i want to buy the Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 i have to buy the one with exact information in there (core name, speed etc.)? Or it just needs to be E6700??

Providing it is SL9ZF or SL9S7 Intel Code you will be OK, they have 4MB Cache

That's a fair chunk of change to invest in an older system. You'd be better off getting a Pentium E2220, overclock the sh!t out of it & save yourself almost $100. 3.2GHz (12 x 266MHz) with RAM running at 533MHz would be ideal.
