Specs: Windows 7
I'm really not good at hardware and stuff so I hope you can help me. I have checked online the supposed core speed of my CPU, only to find out that what I'm getting is a slower core speed. I don't know if its with my MOBO not really letting my CPU max its potential core speed or what.

Here are the details of my unit from CPUID CPU-Z:

CPU: AMD Athlon || x2 260 (supposed core speed found on net is 3206.4 MHz, mine's only 800 MHz)

MOBO: Gigabyte model M68MT-S2P

Begging for your help and thanks in advance.

✔ Best Answer
It's due to Cool'n'Quiet technology. If you want your CPU to run at full speed at all times, even when no one is using it, simply disable C'n'Q.

yes true but doing that while on idle will really cause an increase in power which causes increase in temps so do it at ur own risk.
