✔ Best Answer
First, here is the i945p support list:
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel...
BUT you do not know from there what CPU's your BIOS supports. Go here:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us...
and enter your service tag number from the machine to see what BIOS if there and what CPU it supports.
BEING a LAPTOP I VERY much DOUBT that it will support anything else.
Your BEST upgrade path is to sell this one for anything you can get for it and purchase something much newer that includes a more modern CPU, etc.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi,

Thanks for the info I appreciate your help. This came as a desktop. I upgraded the RAM to RGB and put Windows 7 pro on it. It's really nor that bad. I don't game this is strictly a media device for my bedroom with a little extra. Knowing the desktop issue does that make a difference?

It over 13 years old & only supports up to 2GB RAM; the processor is the least of the problems.

EDIT: "This came as a desktop"

Then it's probably a Dimension, not an Inspiron.

You are right my bad. It is a demension 5150. It can and is reading the 4 GB of RAM. It was free, so far I have ten bucks in it. Wasn't planning on spending allot more. Just cause something is old doesn't mean it's not still useful. Thank you for the help. Again I'm sorry for my mistake about the name.
