Specs: Windows XP, Windows 2003 server, and windows 2008 server
Okay, My friend is just giving me a whole setup on a server machine, the only thing i want to know is the processor. He asked me this, What is so special about the P3 xeon processors? there's something special about it. He is physically giving me 2 processors that go into a pc-dl mother board. The 2 processors run at 2.4 ghz single-core each. can someone tell me the special thing they have? He also might be talkin about the difference between the xeon p3 and the p3. can u explain?

If they truly run at 2.4GHz, then they must be P4 Xeons. The P3 topped at 1.4GHz.

Don't know about the Xeons you have, but newer P4 Xeons had L3 cache (ordinary P4s did not) as well as the ability to run in multi-socket motherboards.

The P4 Xeon was the first CPU line to feature Hyper-Threading. HT eventually moved down to the standard P4 as well.
