Overclocking XFX Radeon 5850

February 17, 2012 at 13:21:11
Specs: Windows 7, AMD Phenom II X6 3.2 GHz/8gb
I'm using the "AMD Vision Engine Control Center to try and overclock my gpu. I can continue to increment it until about 860mhz and 1025 for memory then my screen goes black and has lines on it.

My gpu is not getting hot, at that point under load (bf3) its only about 45 degrees. What is causing my card to not work? lack of voltage or something?

That is a big overclock. hardocp.com only took that card up to 775Mhz from the stock 725Mhz. See here http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009...

every gpu can run up to a certain limit u cant keep overclocking if the temperature is below 60, the chip is engineered to run at 800MHz if u exceed the limit then crashing will happen, dont overclock too high raise the clocks by 10MHz each and keep testing until u find the sweet spot then reduce by 5-10MHz

computers are a second home
