Your RAM adds up to 9Gb...you need to try again. We will need to know the manufacturer and exact model number of your motherboard and the speed of whatever memory you have.

Get the correct system specs for your machine all in one basket and post 'em back here.

If you don't have the manual for your board, get it here:

http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb...

Starting on page 4-10, study the BIOS settings. Here's my recommendations:

AI Tuning = manual
DRAM frequency = DDR2-533 (DDR2-400 would be even better)
CPU freq = 300
PCI express freq = 100
PCI freq = 33.33
Modify ratio support = enabled
Ratio = 10
C1E support = disabled
Hyper Threading = disabled
SpeedStep = disabled

If you run across any Spread Spectrum options, disable them.

If the above settings work, the CPU will run at 3.0GHz at 1200MHz FSB with the RAM at 400MHz (DDR2-800). If the system becomes unbootable, use the ClearCmos jumper to reset the BIOS, then start over.

i tried all of that and no good i coudlnt get it to work failed on the boot and only thing i couldnt find in the bios was the hyper-threading so i tried without it and like i said.. it was unbootable anything else i should try? id really like to get this thing as oced as i can without burning it up along with anything else and also how hot should it run once i get it OCed?

Overclocking is always "trial & error". We need feedback to be able to make recommendations. If you're only going to post back every 6 days, it's gonna take a LONG time to get anything accomplished.

Try the exact same settings that I listed in response #7 but lower the ratio from 10 to 9. That *should* allow you to run the CPU at 2.7GHz. If it works, post another CPUZ shot.

Also, let me know if DDR2-400 is a memory option in the BIOS or not.
