Solved One of four cores quit

Specs: Windows 7
I have an ASUS AMD motherboard with a four core AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU and the computer crashed. I restarted the computer and all seemed normal. I went to the task manager and then to the performance tab and found that only three cores were working. I also installed Speccy and it also confirmed that only three cores were working. The computer is two years old. Question. Should I return the CPU to AMD for warranty replacement. I have proof that one core of four can go bad and the computer still works.

If it is a retail processor then it is within the 3-year warranty. If it is an OEM then you may have more of a problem as AMD say that in this case you need to contact the System Builer.

In either event, the obvious first step is to contact AMD and ask them what the situation is.
