November 20, 2011 at 08:52:35
Specs: Windows Vista
Why is my computer on light yellow when I put in a new processor? All socket and watt are correct. Put my old processor back in and computer worked fine and came on like it was supposed to.

Incompatible or faulty CPU.

Just because the socket-type and wattage is correct, doesn't necessarily mean that CPU is compatible. You have to check what's compatible on the motherboard manufacturer's website or some third-party website which lists the specifications for that motherboard model.

Sometimes a BIOS update is needed before starting using new chip. Go to board manufacture website or system manufacture website for OEM.

I went to Dell website where they have all my information and looked for BIOS update. But I couldn't find anything on my motherboard. Typed in also in run box, dxdiag, gave me everything but that info.

The name of the new chip u are trying to install?

EDIT
Inspiron 530 comes with two different boards
-Foxconn G33M02 support only dual cores
-Foxconn G33M03 support quad core

If u have the first board and bought a quad core chip you are screwed.
