Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4, I GB RAM
I have the Sony PCV-RS312V uses a Pentium 4, 2.41 GHz and I would like to upgrade the processor, but I cannot find information about the motherboard so that I can know which processor to buy. I need to know the socket number (is it 775?.) and the clock ratio if nothing more.

Googling gave little more than this
The 553 MHz buss speed is limiting and probably the older 478 socket. You will not get enough from upgrading this CPU or system to make it worth the expense so I would advise you to save for a new system or components to build one.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I'm basically going to state the same thing as Fingers. Your system is old - S478 CPU, 1GB DDR memory (max), no AGP slot for graphics upgrade, etc. It's not worth investing any money in. Keep it as-is & save up for a new computer.
