Main PC board ECS MCP61PM-HM bios updates

Specs: Windows 7, AMD 2
Trying to see if I can get a BIOS update somewhere for this main PC board, but can't go through HP because I'm running WIN 7, not vista. They don't reconize that!

BIOS is O/S independent, and there are several Revisions of that board:

What is the HP Model Number ? What do you wish to achieve ??

"can't go through HP because I'm running WIN 7, not vista"

What do you hope to accomplish by updating the BIOS? You have no choice but to use the HP BIOS unless you can find a modded BIOS somewhere, but that's risky business. Without knowing the model of your computer, it's difficult to point you at the proper BIOS file to use. As X86 pointed out, it shouldn't matter which OS you're running.

The Main board is in an HP M8100n computer. The bios is over three years old. When you go to HP, they only have the file / programs to work with Vista, the original OS, NOT windows 7, that I updated to. I do get some wierd things sometimes that I was hoping updating the BIOS would possibly help. You ALSO can't update anything else through HP because all the updates are for VISTA ONLY & they say they don't support anything that is Windows 7 because it's not an update they offered or supported! (for this unit!!)
I bought Win 7 & installed it myself. I love it WAY better than Vista, (that also had some admin problems that even HP could't figure out!)
Otherwise, my computer is fine & I'll live with the quirks b/c Win 7 is some much more stable, reliable, etc. Thanks for all the input to date! LP

Win7 is an improved version of Vista. Vista drivers *usually* work with Win7 so my guess would be the BIOS update will work. However, you didn't state what you hope to accomplish. The BIOS configures the hardware so unless you're having a problem with the CPU, RAM, HDD settings, I doubt a BIOS update is going to do you any good.

DID YOU ACTUALLY MEAN HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8100n PC (GC673AA) ??

If so this is the Vista BIOS File sp37530.exe

"MCP61PM-HM Motherboard BIOS update resolves issue with systems with 4GB RAM not waking up from S3 mode and updates AGESA to version 2.08.15"

It will work on Windows 7, but you may need to run in compatibility mode:

I've tried that download & it says, "not the correct OS to run this program"! That's why I said about a different Os, they don't do the updates. I went to some other site to get some of the "other" drive, board updates when I did Win 7, but I can't find that link anywhere. I guess I'll just hope the quirks don't bother me & I don't have to update the BIOS! Thanks anyway

What quirks?? You STILL haven't told us WHY you want to update the BIOS!

Its not the BIOS that will not work with windows 7, but the BIOS update utility that is supposed to work within Vista. See if they have a flash BIOS program that is used to burn a bootable disc that will update the BIOS directly, OUTSIDE of Windows, rather than from within Windows.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

Hi all
I would also need a bios update for my system,
Board is MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2),
It is a Hp Pavillion m8200n , running on Windows server 2008 64 bit
and the reason i want to update is that i have a Am2 socket with an athlon 64 x2 6000+ works perfect
But now i want to buy a newer backwards compatible AMD CPU ,(looking at the Phenom x4 64 bit that would still work with AM2 (NOT AM2+) please Correct me if im wrong, If i cant update my bios i can forget about the cpu upgrade for sure....
