Specs: Windows XP
I have an old k7ama mobo( ambios 1999), 462 pin socket A
and it has an amd athlon cpu 1ghz. I changed the cpu to an amd athlon xp 3200+ but the system shows the processor speed as 1100. how can I get the system to identify the new processor properly and have my system run at the 2.2 ghz that the cpu designed for. I am a novice when it comes to handling such problems. Any suggestions or assitance will be deeply appreciated.

Your motherboard is an antique, it doesn't support "modern" CPUs like the AXP 3200+. There's nothing you can do to get it to run at the correct speed in that board. The voltage requirements for the 3200+ are totally different than for the early Durons/Athlons, plus the proper FSB speed isn't supported. I suggest you remove it from the board immediately before you fry it.
