Specs: Windows Vista, iPentium M 725/745
Hi!

I own HP Compaq nc6000 with CPU Pentium M 745 (socket H-PBGA479, PPGA478) and nc8000 with CPU Pentium M 725 (socket PPGA478).
I have for CPU replacement Core 2 Duo Mobile T5750 SLA4D (socket 478/479).

Is possible to upgrade one of there two laptop CPUs to Core 2 Duo written above?

Or other Dual Core CPU (no matter 32/64-bit).

Thank you very much for help.

There are definitely newer laptops (than what you have) that support all of that. But just to be clear, you can NOT upgrade to a dual core on either of your laptops. The motherboard chipset is too old & that is the limiting factor.

if i where you i would skip all the hassle, get a new cheap laptop with an ssd.

i mean like you're going to replace that 7.5 watt cpu with a 35watt one, what could go wrong

You can only install what's supported. According to HP: "Intel Pentium M processor with Enhanced SpeedStep technology and 400MHz front side bus (FSB). Available in the following speeds: 1.4GHz;1.5GHz;1.6GHz;1.7GHz"

https://support.hp.com/us-en/docume...

The limiting factor is the Intel 855PM chipset the motherboard is based on.

I need only one thing: Dual core CPU - no matter which (of course Intel).

"I need only one thing: Dual core CPU"

It's not going to happen with either of those old laptops. It's time to move on. Here's what $140 will get you: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...
