Boot up holding Alt + F10 to access recovery partition and follow directions. This can do a factory restore which will return the machine to the way they shipped it. As a consequence you will loose anything you have on the hard drive. If you need to try to recover any important files from the drive first, Google "create a Live Linux bootable USB flash drive", with this and your BIOS set to boot to USB device (assuming it can be set) you may be able to recover some or all of your files first, then do your factory restore.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

IMO, netbooks have a lot of shortcomings, one of the biggest being no CD/DVD drive. I'll never understand the attraction.

You should have got some documentation with your netbook explaining how to reinstall the OS. There should also be instructions at the Acer website.

BTW, this question belongs in the XP forum.

You can just go downlaod a full version of your Windows XP from a trusted torrent site and use your product key to activate it and its perfectly legal to do because when you buy a Windows OS you're really paying for the product key, thus is why if you lose it and need another one, Microsoft will charge you the full amount of an acutally OS for that product key, because that's where Microsoft makes their money from.
