Hellol everyone, Iam currently building a gaming rig.
i7 3770k
corsair hx850
msi z77a-g45
cm storm enforcer case
corsair vengence ram

I want to upgrade the stock cooler to something better, so i went with the hyper 212 evo since its not so pricey, and the performance is good. But Ive read some reviews and the fans that come with the heatsink seem pretty loud. Can I switch them with some noctua fans? Iam planning on moderately overclocking.

also do you recommend any other type of cooling? Maybe a diff fan or liquid cooling?

thanks, and happy thanksgiving to everyone.

Are the temps too high with the stock cooler? Is it noisy? Just wondering if you actually need to change the cooler or you just want to change the cooler. As for the Hyper, did you already buy it, install it, & it's too loud?

And I suggest you consider a case with a top mounted power supply.

Well, personally I'd say going with the Hyper is a safe bet if you're going to OC it a little. Considering that the stock TDP of that processor is only 70 watts and the max TDP of the Hyper 212 is 180 you have plenty of room.

About the fan noise, I've never actually had one of these but most of the people who do seem to say that they aren't as noisy as you would think. Newegg say that the fan's max rated DBA is only 36. Of course, it's easy to simply grab a fan from Amazon (get ball bearings) and replace it if you aren't happy.

And for that system, liquid cooling would be a complete waste of time. The $$$ in a liquid cooling system for that would be better put into upgrading more RAM, better GPU and the likes.
