Help with a CPU upgrade

January 2, 2011 at 17:25:21
Specs: Windows Vista, e4500 4gb sd ram ddr2
I have just bought a cpu, an e4500, which is compatible with my motherboard, a GF7100P-M7, but after a couple of minutes, I get a blue screen of death, and it restarts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

sounds like it might be a driver issue to me try to get a bbod reader and to read the error message

Hello, could you recommend a freeware program I could use to read the blue screen error? I have tried updating the bios, cleared the cmos, but have gone back to my old e1200 (hence me being able to post this :D). Thanks for a quick reply to my original question.

This version:
GF7100P-M7 Ver. 6.x
says it is compatible with your CPU, what version do you have? Your version may not be compatible. and they are only showing support for this one.

Turn off the automatic restart feature, then the blue screen will be displayed. Then you can do a search for whatever the stop code error is.

O.K. Will do, and I will reinstall the e4500. Will let you know the error code, but I've got a feeling it's related to BC Code 124, that Windows error reporting showed. Thank you.

Hello, I've gone back to the e1200, as I'm still getting bsod error. As stated in my first post, the blue screen confirms it is a bc code 124.
