Frequency too low

Amd athlon 64 / 3000+

Specs: Windows XP, 2000 MHz / 1 GB
I have K8V-MX mother board + Athlon 64 3000+ processor. The default speed of the processor is 2000 MHz. But my system is always running at not more than 800 MHz with VCore voltage of 1.2v. Please Help.

Either AMD Cool'n'Quiet is doing it's job or you're looking at the wrong setting.

^^ bump this guy's post as the best answer. AMD's Cool N Quiet technology will automatically drop the CPU multiplier down to x4 when not under load, thus making it run at 200MHZ (base clock) * 4 CPU multiplier = 800MHZ rated clock. There's nothing to worry about, you will notice that if you have CPU Z open and you try to load into a game or some other intensive application that it will jump right back up to the normal operating frequency.
