Do I have to re-install my OS for new CPU? I am planning on purchasing an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 to upgrade from a Pentium 4 630. My question is do I have to re-install Windows 7 after I install the new CPU, or will it run normaly with the new CPU verified by the OS and BIOS?

You may need all the pieces to the puzzle before you can solve it.

You do not have to reinstall Windows due to changing/upgrading the CPU. However it's possible a BIOS update will be needed to support the new CPU. If it is necessary, the update will need to be performed before the CPU is swapped.

Once the BIOS is updated (if necessary) and the CPU is swapped & confirmed to be working properly, it would be best to customize the BIOS settings to get the most out of your system.
