ok i got a Diamond Radeon HD 2400 Pro card from geeks.com

direct link: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?in...

i dont "need" to overclock it but all of my other computer are overclocked in every possible way and i dont want this one to be left out. now all the ati cards ive owned have been overclockable and i would love to be able to overclock this one. if possible i would like to increase its core and mem speed from

525 MHz core clock
256 MB DDR2 memory
792 MHz memory clock

to

800+ MHz core clock
(i would like to allocate more memory to it so it had at least 512) MB DDR2 memory
800+ MHz memory clock

would the core and mem clocks be able to go that high? if anything the core needs to go up cause it is relativly slow. my ati radeon 9600/9700 card in my laptop is clocked at 2000MHz and stable (took alot of modding) so im hoping this one can handle some overclocking as well.

If you can't play youtube (320p) on newer computers, then you know you got ripped off

I recommended that card because you said you didn't play games & didn't want to spend much, plus your old motherboard has a 1st generation PCIe slot.

"i would like to allocate more memory to it so it had at least 512"

How do you propose to increase the 256MB to 512MB, solder different memory chips to the card? And why do you need to overclock the video card on a non-gaming system?

lol, its not that im gonna be gaming on it. its just that all my other computer are modded and overclocked and what not and i was curious to see if this one was. and i thought you could allocate more memory? or is that onyl for onboard graphics? and i do wanna play minecraft and im not sure if the slow core will play it. thats why i wanted to overclock the core at least

Don't worry if the video card memory run out system memory(RAM) will be used.

well this doesnt really answer my issue. if the v-ram is no issue then what about the core speed? thats still a problem

How about trying minecraft and see for yourself?

You don't need more video memory & you don't need to overclock the card. Minecraft has extremely lightweight hardware requirements:

And your "signature" about youtube videos is ridiculous. ALL modern systems can handle youtube videos. All you need is flash player. I'm beginning to wonder how much you really know about computer hardware?

how to you expect to reach an 800MHz core from 525MHz, you need proper cooling plus iam certain that i will crash after a couple hours of gameplay, if it did not crash then u should be worried abt the heat.
the video card u have even if overclocked wont compete with high or medium end gaming cards these days. if ur trying to play minecraft then heck i can play this game on an intel chipset...
if u want to overclock safely i recommend overclocking using 10MHz increases and benshtesting until u find the sweet spot
