Specs: Windows 10
Hello,

Do I have to change my mother board to upgrade my CPU in dell Inspiron 518 to a Q6600
Its an intel (R) Pentium( R) Dual CPU E2200 @2.20GHz 2.20GHz

Does not list supported CPU's but it does list the chipset as G33 which does support the processor upgrade.
Without more information we cannot tell if the BIOS supports it though.
I hope you have not spent much on this system or processor because it is very far from a modern system and the quad processor will only make a small difference in this. It supports Windows XP and Vista which MS does not support any longer. I doubt that you could run Windows 7 and very unlikely Windows 10 on it well or easily if at all.
The only operating system you realistically should run on it would be a form of Linux.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

According to this article, the 518 was available with the Q6600.
