cpu usage seems high

Toshiba SATELLITE
November 29, 2010 at 23:47:42
Specs: Windows Vista, Core2 Duo 1.8GHz/2Gb RAM
When switched on, the cpu usage is really low. Then switch on wifi and the cpu usage jumps to 100% and then drops back to around 50/60% with no programs running. No malware detected. What might be the cause? Is it a problem?

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up Task Manager, then look at the Processes list to see which process is hogging the CPU.

Better yet, try Process Explorer. Unlike the built in Task Manager, PE can see everything.

Well, I understand even less with Process Explorer. It says that svchosts.exe:992(DcomLaunch) is running with lots of cpu usage. When I look at the threads for that it lists ntdll.dll!RtlUserThreadStart about 6 times. The top two are constantly changing cpu usage, averaging at about 33 and 19. What next?
