cpu memory controller

Specs: Windows 7/64bit
I just bought ddr3 pc12800 ram @1600mhz for a new build. I was looking at getting a AMD 1100T/ Intel i5,i7 CPU but only noticed after buying ram that either CPU only supports ddr3 10600 @1333mhz. At least this is what I've read on the CPU product details (Memory Controller) line, at the online retail site. I need to know if either CPU will support the ram I bought through OC or will I have to exchange it. The mb I'm planning to use is the gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ or asus P8Z68 Deluxe LGA 1155. Thanks

It might work, because the RAM might reduce it's transfer speed to the processor's 1333mhz max supported. Yet at the same time it may not work at all. You may just want to try, but be prepared to have to either exchange the RAM or processor.

Ask and Answer. The way of learning.
But first ask the right way.

It should work but it will automatically downclock to 1333MHz. If you want to take full advantage of the RAM's capability, you'll have to overclock the system.
