As it's brand new it will covered by manufacturer's warranty so don't try to fix it yourself as that may void the warranty.

Contact the manufacturer and tell them about the problem, if it needs repairing it will cost you nothing.

Incidentally, you posted your problem on the wrong forum as it's got nothing to do with overclocking. You should have posted in "General Hardware".

It's most likely updating Win10. It may take a while. Did you check to see which program(s) is hogging the CPU? Did you uninstall the Asus bloatware?

"The X540SA includes quite a lot of bloatware that I’m not particularly fond of and almost immediately disabled for my daily usage. This not only speeds up boot time, but also removes a lot of the Windows notifications that pop-up from many of the background apps. Safe to say, given the specifications of the unit, you’ll definitely want to remove or disable a lot of these background software and bloatware to improve operations."

Yes, Windows 10 update would be my first thought. Windows 10 had a major update a couple of months ago that would not have been included yet on a recent purchase. This update apparently can take anywhere from an hour and a half up through ten or more hours to just download and prep for install and depending on the speed of the system can take nearly as long to actually complete. Use Task Manager and Services tab to see that it is running update.
Also as mentioned, if it lets you, uninstall anything you know you will not use and set everything else not to start with Windows. This will also help your system feel newer and crisper.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
