Solved Core Duo e8600 3.33 running hotter than e7500 2.93

Specs: Windows 7, e8600/8g
Just wanted to do a small upgrade. Bought the 3.33 on ebay. I have the 2.93 oc'd @3.8 in Gigabyte ep43t. 9.5x400, vcore@1.34375v. with no problems. I just swapped the cpu and core temp reads about 10c hotter. 48c @ 0 load. I'm on windows 7 x64

Seems like kind of a pointless upgrade, hopefully you got the CPU cheap. Check your heatsink installation. When you applied the thermal paste, you should have used the vertical line method.

That would be expected, I think. Also, perhaps you botched the thermal paste cleaning/reapply a bit when swapping?

At any rate, what's the point of the swap, unless you 'think' you could get more OC out of the 3.33 rather than the 2.93.

EDIT: After looking at the spec pages, the E8600 has double the L2 cache and a higher FSB than the E7500, so it actually probably comes out better if you want to crank that CPU back to 3.9 or wherever you had it. Just as long as your temps don't get past ~60°C, you should be good but cooler is better. ALWAYS clean your air vents and fans weekly.
