core 2 duo E7400 vs. core i3 530

Intel Core i3-530 dual core processor
March 16, 2011 at 15:41:21
Specs: Windows 7, 2.93/2
i have two PCs
1. core 2 duo E7400 (2.8, 3mb cache, 1066 FSB), ram 2gb DDR2 800mhz, HDD 1tb WD, GPU 1gb ATI radeon HD5750
2. core i3 530 (2.93, 4mb cache, 2.5gt/s FSB), ram 2 gb DDR3 1333mhz, HDD 500gb WD

there is huge difference in the processing speed of the PCs but thing is, core i3 should be faster than core 2 duo which is not, in fact core 2 duo is too much faster than core i3
what would be the reason or what should I do for best performance of core i3?

How do you expect anyone to help without knowing the rest of the specs?

The Core 2 Duo has a Radeon 5750 video card. You didn't mention any video card for the i3, so I'm going to assume that it uses processor integrated graphics. If games/graphics are running much faster on the C2D, it's because of the dedicated graphics card.

yea, u did not mention any video card for the core i3. lets assume u have the same video card. games should be running slightly faster on the second pc. due to the cache available on the corei3 4MB>3MB.
if u have an integrated graphics chip, its obvious that u will have issues in gaming with the second pc than in the first which would perform better

computers are a second home

As already mentioned, just purchase a video card equal or better and you should be all set there.
Also, you show 2GB RAM on both, but if the i3-530 has Windows 7 64bit and the E7400 has Windows 7 32bit, THEN you will also need to increase the memory of the i3-530 up to 4GB to maintain similar or better performance due to the fact that the 64bit OS needs and uses the memory. IF this is the case, know that the 32bit can run on 1GB, but runs better on 2GB and 64bit will run on 2GB but does run much better on 4GB (and more for some applications).
This points out clearly the need to include ALL specifications, regardless if you think it will matter, sometimes it does.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
