xbox only accepts xbox discs, dvds and cds. There is no software you need to install or anything.
just connect it to your router using either Ethernet or Wifi adapter

I had the same problem -- just turn your console off and then back on with the disc IN THE SYSTEM. it will automatically load it.

Thanks for the response. I had the same problem of the system not reading the CD, but as suggested in the previous response, I rebooted the Xbox console with the CD in it and everything worked like a charm. Updates were installed from the CD and I was able to connect to my WiFi network.

Necro.
I just bought Xbox 360 Wireless N Network Adapter and it gives me red light. Which means 360 doesnt recognice the adapter. I did what was already instucted in this thread but no change. When I booted my 360 with the cd inside I dont think it even installed anything from the disc.
Is this a lost cause or is there anything to be done her?

heebp.
the exact same thing was happening to me, I was cursing and about the through the freakin thing at the wall. the disc didnt work, restarting didnt work, it wasnt picking up the wireless adapter.

my solution: how it finally worked for me was when I connected the xbox directley to the wireless modem via an ethernet cable. Im completely technologically ignorant but somehow i think the wireless modem installed the same drivers that the disc does. so after i connected to the internet, updates were installed and after a couple of tries at connecting and re-connecting the adapter it finally worked.

dont give up theres still hope haha
