Backed up my in use PS4 succesfully. Formated my 4Tb drive with exFAT with the system formats. I have succesfully installed the os and added my profile/gamertag. When I insert the extenal USB storage to begin the restore process I get that the USB HDD is not recognized. This is quite irrating b/c I inserted inuse's HDD and had to reformat my 2tb internal drive to replace the 500gb with which it came.

My first option is I am going to format another 2tv HDD and copy wntire conts to it, then retry. Any suggestions as I have read some external HDD are not compatible with the PS4 (and true for any 2.0 usb). I upgrade a friend's PS4 recently, and was reqjired to use a 3.0 device.

I don't need to be right, but I am never wrong.

Thanks for the edits.

Formatted another 2tb drive, just like the installed drive. Copied entire contents from 4tb to the new 2tb then plugged the 2tb in the PS4 and still nothing. But I have 2 or 3 different SATA to USB 3.0 adapters. It finally noticed the 4tb, because I had it plugged into my other adapter. The problem was just the adapter I used originally. Instead of it needing to be a 3.0 adapter it needed to be a 3.1 adapter. BS, BS, BS, BS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't need to be right, but I am never wrong.
