Where are Android apps installed to?

November 15, 2017 at 12:33:15
Specs: several
Android 4.4.2

When I download an application .apk file and then install it,
where in my tablet's filesystem is it installed?

(I'm not asking where the .apk is stored. It is where I put it.)

Okay, I read each of the pages at the links you provided.
(The PDF file in the case of the first link.)

Two questions:

1) Did you read those pages?

2) If so, did you find an answer to my question in them?

It looks like the apps are supposed to be in the "system"
folder, but that folder has a lot of sub-folders. The "app"
subfolder contains both .apk files and .odex files. I read
an article that tried to explain the relation between those
two filetypes, but it was confusing. I couldn't tell whether
the Android system runs apps directly from these files or
not. If it does, then apparently the apps are not divided up
into modules with separate functions, and I can't go any
further. I was hoping to delete one module of one app
to disable its ability to connect to the Internet, since that
ability isn't required for the app to function.
