Solved Tablet and wired internet connection

Hi everyone.
Could you please advise for the following: I would like to buy a tablet, in particular for when we are travelling. But when we are at home, we don't want any wireless. Everything is cabled. So here is my question: most of the tablets do not have a RJ45 port (logical as they are so thin). I have seen that small USB-RJ45 adaptors exist. I have read people explaining it works, some say it does not function at all. I would like your opinion/experience.
Thank you for your help.

You must use wireless with a tablet. Tablets are designed to be carried around and used in any room, that's why they don't have an ethernet port for a wired connection. If they had one, it would have to be thicker and bulky like a laptop, then people would not buy one.

Hi Phil22.

Thanks for your answer. I expected someone to tell me that tablets are supposed to be used wireless. Yet, I want to be able to connect with a cable, when I wish. What I actually would like to know is whether USB-RJ45 adaptor work to connect to the internet. Does anyone know?

Thank you.

If you bought a Windows based tablet, then sure the USB Ethernet card will work. Any other OS, I don't think it will work.

Thanks a lot, Gretti.
Woaw, if it restrict my choice to Windows only, this is a pity. I was planning to buy an Android tablet. I believe the choice is wider. And the Windows ones are systematically more expensive. My budget is not very big. On top of that, we are not going to use it with fancy applications or games. It is more going to be books, documents, photos and internet searches...
If you have a suggestion, it is welcome.
Thanks and have a nice day.

Here is the developer's thread for android ethernet. You maybe able to get it to function, but you will have to do some work.

Cabled Tablet I think not fit for traveling. Buy a tablet with wi-fi.
